Life in Amalfi
I'm pretty sure that my Blog had a couple of followers, but I know there aren't many. Even Thipp doesn't pay it much attention. However, she did take a look this evening and her one comment wasn't about the great stories or awesome photos, but asking where was my write-up on Amalfi. When I said that I couldn't think of much to write about, she strongly disagreed and blurted out a number of memories of note:
- the charming village where we stayed for one week - Vietre Sul Mare. The tourist season was mostly over, so we were a bit of a welcomed anomaly to the locals. Locals would greet us as they passed by carrying their morning groceries.
- Alex having fun playing with a few local kids as well as developing his soccer skills passing a toy ball in the village square with Thipp.
- The crazy, curving roads perched along the coast. I couldn't imagine driving here without either banging into someone or going over a cliff.
- Thipp has cooked-in quite a bit this trip, which has been very nice. Heck, she doesn't need to take an Italian cooking course. The financial savings have been partially off-set by her tendency to order the most expensive dishes when out for dinner.
- Alex's daily expectation of having an icecream cone. On a good day he also talks his way into also having a Kinder chocolate egg.
- Feeding left-over pizza to a swarm of small fish at the docks at Salerno.
All in all, we had a very pleasent week. It was pelting down rain the morning we left, the remnants of a cyclone that hot Sicily, which was probably a good thing as we otherwise might have never left.
